Sandersons acquire Busy Bee
Busy Bee Business Center, a cornerstone of the local community since 1977, is entering a new chapter under the ownership of local residents Catherine and Andrew Sanderson.
The couple, who moved their family to Fredericksburg from Dripping Springs, said they want to continue the legacy of outstanding service while expanding offerings to further support local businesses and residents.
History
Originally founded as LT Answering Service nearly 50 years ago by Loyce Tatsch, the business operated as a traditional answering service for nearly four decades, complete with a raised platform and old-school phone switchboard still in place when it was sold in 2015.
The business evolved into Busy Bee Business Center in 2015, modernizing and streamlining its operations. The business also offered Lotto tickets and money orders.
When Donna Lilly and her mother purchased it, they reimagined the space while honoring its roots, transitioning it into the full-service business center now known as Busy Bee.
Some answering service clients were still active at the time of the purchase.
The Sandersons are currently gathering old photos or stories from the LT Answering days to share in-store and on the company’s website — celebrating a legacy that’s remained woven into Fredericksburg’s fabric for nearly 50 years.
New owners
“We’re honored to take the reins of such a trusted local business,” said Andrew, an experienced entrepreneur and former gas turbine engineer originally from a small town in Yorkshire, England. “Fredericksburg is our family’s home now, and we’re excited to be a part of the community and provide our fellow residents and businesses with essential business services and a welcoming space for customers.”
Catherine, an Austin-born Texas A&M alum with a background in marketing and branding said, “We’ve chosen to live in Fredericksburg and raise our family here because we love the small-town atmosphere — where you recognize people everywhere you go, and residents truly support each other.
“The community has welcomed our family with open arms, and we aim to bring that same welcoming and helpful spirit to all that Busy Bee does. Busy Bee has built a reputation for being reliable, efficient, and community driven,” she said. “We’re excited to preserve that legacy and bring in fresh ideas to serve our customers even better.”
The Sandersons said they are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and invite customers — both longtime and new — to visit, share their thoughts.
“We want to thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to meeting more members of this wonderful community,” Andrew added. “If you have any questions or just want to stop by and chat, we’d love for you to stop in and see us.”
