Learn about honeybees at Green Lake Bird & Nature Club event
The Green Lake Bird and Nature Club will host a presentation Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. called “The Magical World of the Honeybee.”
The program will cover topics ranging from the different castes of bees within the hive, their individual roles and why an entire hive is considered a “superorganism.”

Julie Mazzoleni gives a presentation about honeybees to children. She will be the guest speaker Tuesday, April 8 at the Green Lake Bird and Nature Club’s monthly program.
In addition to the honeybee, guest speaker Julie Mazzoleni, former vice president of the Brown County Beekeepers Association, will introduce attendees to the many diverse and essential native bees and pollinators seen in gardens and yards every day, highlighting their role in maintaining a strong and healthy ecosystem. Mazzoleni will discuss the challenges these pollinators are facing and the simple things to do to help them thrive.
As a beekeeper for more than 10 years and an active member of the Brown County Beekeepers Association, Mazzoleni also coordinated the club’s annual beekeeping class and taught youth educational experiences.
These days, she promotes native plants in her position as chair of the Grant Committee for Green Bay Wild Ones and leads environmental projects as chair of the Stewardship and Resources Committee for the Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes Association.
Mazzoleni is passionate about educating youth in beekeeping and was recognized for her efforts, receiving the Wisconsin Honey Producers Association Education Award at its 2022 fall convention.
This month’s program will take place in the Club Room, which is located in the back of Town Square in downtown Green Lake and will be free and open to the public. Attendees should enter at the rear of the building off Water Street. Ample parking is available near the doorway for those with disabilities and another parking area a level below. People may bring a snack to share if they wish; beverages will be available for purchase.
The Green Lake Bird and Nature Club meets every second Tuesday of the month, from September through May. Anyone with an interest in birds and nature may attend.
