Taking advantage of favorable weather, Mr. Tran Van Cao, Xuan Giao Commune, Bao Thang District, focused on harvesting honey . Raising about 100 bee colonies, Mr. Cao collects 250 - 300 liters of honey each crop. In addition, he also builds bee colonies and sells seeds, earning a profit of more than 100 million VND/year. Mr. Cao shared: "I love this job, so I can survive until now. After the lychee and longan seasons, I take care of the bee colonies again, collecting honey from wild flowers until the end of the 5th lunar month. You have to know how to create queen bees, multiply the colonies, and take care of them so that the bee colonies can develop."

In recent years, beekeeping has become a profession in Xuan Giao commune. Households have joined together to establish a Beekeeping Association, sharing experiences in raising and harvesting honey to ensure the best quality and promoting the product.

Beekeeping model brings high income to people.

Mr. Vu Van Sy, Head of the Beekeeping Professional Association, Xuan Giao Commune, Bao Thang District said: “We established a professional association to both raise bees for honey and sell bees to localities, now selling to Lai Chau and Son La provinces. In the coming time, we will continue to increase the herd, develop more bee colonies, develop more members to try to establish a local beekeeping cooperative for honey.”

Many households in Xuan Giao commune develop the profession of raising bees for honey.

Mr. Pham Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Xuan Giao Commune, Bao Thang District, added: "The honey beekeeping model is very effective, from an initial income of only 50 - 60 million VND but now it has reached nearly 100 million VND/year. The Farmers' Association has also promoted this model to its members and other branches to replicate and develop it."

The sound of honey spinning machines is bustling, and golden batches of honey are supplied to the market by beekeepers in Xuan Giao. Beekeeping has brought sweet results to the people here.
