Bee Inspired at One Colorado’s Eco-Friendly Earthday ‘BEE Kind to Our Planet’ Event
One Colorado in Old Pasadena will transform its historic courtyards into a sustainability showcase on Saturday, April 26, highlighting the vital role of bees in our ecosystem.
The “BEE Kind to Our Planet” celebration, running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., comes after the center installed its own beehive as part of a broader environmental initiative.
In preparation for the event, One Colorado has been harvesting and packaging honey from its very own beehive to offer as gifts to community participants.
The installation is part of a larger conservation effort by ShopCore Properties, the owner and manager of One Colorado, which placed beehives at 30 of its properties across 12 states last year to highlight the importance of bees in pollination and honey production.
Visitors to the free event can engage in hands-on ecological experiences designed for all ages.
The center will host a pollinator plant workshop where participants will create miniature potted plants to take home. For those interested in artisanal crafts, a candle-making workshop will allow guests to produce honey-infused candles, with donations benefiting a local charity. Advance registration for the candle workshop is required at https://bit.ly/4ichCER.
Throughout the afternoon, professional beekeepers will be available to discuss bee conservation, behavior, and sustainable practices. The shopping center courtyard will simultaneously feature a marketplace of sustainable brands offering eco-conscious products.
Refreshments include complimentary honeybee lemonade crafted with honey from the center’s own beehives. The first 100 attendees who sign up for One Colorado’s Mobile Program and follow the center on Instagram will receive a free jar of honey from One Colorado’s beehive, available for pickup at the event’s honey booth. All refreshments, craft supplies, and honey gifts are available while supplies last.
The 240,000-square-foot retail destination in Old Pasadena houses popular brands including Aesop, Allbirds, Patagonia, and Sephora. Its dining portfolio features Sushi Roku and Salt & Straw, complemented by the nearby Dining District at Union Street and Fair Oaks Avenue with newer food concepts including Main Chick, Paper Rice, and Tacos 1986.
Beyond retail and dining, One Colorado regularly hosts community gatherings amid its Victorian brick buildings and open-air spaces, including outdoor movie screenings, end-of-summer festivals, and photography-friendly settings.
The Earth Day celebration will be held in the One Colorado Courtyard at 41 Hugus Alley in Pasadena. Additional information is available at https://www.onecolorado.
