Safety and training in agriculture open the 44th Agrimont
A day dedicated to beekeeping will also be on the first weekend
Safety will open Agrimont 2025. The primary sector and mountain livestock fair, taking place at Longarone Fiere Dolomiti for two weekends (15-16 and 21-22-23 March), will shine a light on “Safety and employment relationships in agriculture”. This is the title of the opening conference – scheduled for Saturday 15 at 9 am – organised by the “Della Lucia” Agricultural Institute of Feltre, in collaboration with Coldiretti, Confagricoltura and Cia Belluno. Inail statistical data for the province of Belluno will be presented and explored in depth, with a focus on rescue interventions in the event of accidents and on the role of schools in professional training and the safety of equivalent student workers.
Safety will then be the leitmotif of all the days of the fair, with the project “Forestry Course and Forest Olympics” of the “Della Lucia” institute, which in the external area of the pavilions will bring practical demonstrations of safety in forestry construction sites, maintenance and sharpening of chains and cutting with chainsaws.
BEEKEEPING
The first weekend will have a strong focus on the peculiarities of the mountains with beekeeping as the protagonist. On Sunday 16th Apimarca will present (at 10) a conference on the management of apiaries, with Franco Asioli, an expert in the production of organic honey. At lunchtime (1.30 pm) the focus will shift to the breeding of queen bees.
But there will also be space for the milk supply chain, with a conference on raw milk production (Sunday 16th at 10.30 am, organized by Arav and Coldiretti Belluno). And for silkworm breeding, a traditional practice in the Belluno area until a few decades ago, as shown by the rows of mulberry trees still present in some countryside. On Saturday 15th starting at 10am, Crea will propose an experiential workshop for schools on the biological cycle, products, and physiology of the silkworm. The activities will allow students to discover the life cycle of the silkworm, exploring its phases and its role as an environmental sentinel. Differently shaped cocoons will be shown, the silk processing process explained, and an educational kit for breeding in the classroom will be presented. At the end, interactive quizzes will test the children’s understanding. Sunday 16th starting at 10am, Cantiere della Provvidenza and Rete di impresa Bachicoltura Setica will present the products of silkworm breeding (commercial cocoons, silk skeins, mulberry plants, brochures on silkworm breeding, cosmetic creams with sericin, live silkworms, ray arrays with cocoons, chrysalises, chrysalis flour, photos of the breeding, documentary on the history of silkworm breeding and innovations).
FARM
The pavilion of the livestock exhibition managed by Arav, the regional association of Venetian breeders, will be open as per tradition throughout the days of Agrimont. A real farm that will attract the attention of professionals but also of children and families, with cows, goats, sheep, rabbits and other animals.
